Participant Attendance Policy

1. Attendance Requirements

1.1. Attending all 10 modules (class sessions) is a mandatory requirement for successful graduation. No unexcused absences will be permissible.

Unexcused absences refer to any absences taken without notifying the program manager before the session.

Excused absences refer to an absence due to sickness, work conflict, or a family emergency that has been communicated to the program manager via email ahead of the missed session.

1.2. We understand that unforeseen emergencies and scheduling conflicts can arise. However, participants are expected to make diligent efforts to engage in the 10 learning modules fully. Completion of all 10 sessions, which includes participating in make-up sessions for approved absences, is necessary to obtain a certificate.

1.3. In the event of an absence, participants must notify the program manager in advance of the missed session and submit an approved make-up form for each pre-authorized absence. A maximum of two absences per term is allowed. While various make-up opportunities will be provided, absences should be avoided.

2. Session Punctuality

2.1. Punctuality is of utmost importance. Participants are expected to arrive promptly at the designated session start time. Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the session and hinder the learning experience for all participants.

2.2. If unavoidable circumstances prevent timely arrival, please inform the program manager in advance. If your late arrival or early departure from the class is deemed inappropriate by the program manager, you may receive an absence for that class session.

3. Removal from Class

3.1. An absence during Module 1 will result in immediate expulsion from the class. The vacated spot will be offered to the next individual on the waitlist, and no advance notice will be provided.

3.2. Missing more than two sessions/modules will lead to non-completion of the course.

3.3. Participants with any unexcused absences will not be awarded a certificate of completion.

3.4. The program manager reserves the right to remove participants from the class due to repeated tardiness, early departures, or excessive technology usage that detracts from the learning process.

4. Make-Up Opportunities

4.1. Make-up opportunities are subject to approval by the program manager and must be requested via email. Pre-approved activities for make-up sessions include city council meetings, chamber of commerce luncheons, community service with local nonprofit organizations, or the attendance of cultural events.

4.2. To make up an approved absence, you must attend an approved activity for a total of 4 hours or a combination of 2-4 activities that add up to 4 hours. After attending the approved activity(ies), you must submit a make-up form in the participant portal at lpiwaco.org. The make-up form will require photo proof of attendance, the first and last name, and the phone number of an event representative for verification purposes.

5. Attendance Tracking

5.1. Attendance will be tracked through the submission of your module surveys, which are taken electronically immediately following each LeadershipPlenty® class session.

Important Note: Failure to fulfill the course requirements may prevent another eligible applicant from participating in the Institute for the current year.

By participating in The LeadershipPlenty® Institute, you acknowledge and agree to adhere to the above attendance policy and guidelines. Your commitment to active participation is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the program and ensuring the success of all participants.
